The Cat's Diary:
Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Jerks!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

Busy Busy
Hi all,
Sorry but work has been manic for the last few days and stuff and only getting to catch up now. A nice spin to meath tomorrow is laying ahead of me. Its a long one but it has to be done.
I'm so tired lately its unbelieveable and it doesnt help that once i leave actual work i have to go home to face the the rest of the work at home. Such is a womans life I hear the men say but come on wake up and smell the coffee......... Clothes dont wash themselves, Do you think its the little pixies down the garden that come up every day and make the house clean, clothes washed etc etc. The days of women by the sink are long gone boys....... Make yourselves useful and it may pay dividends in the end.

Dedicated to the Asgard
MY LOVE IS A TALL SHIP by Jimmy Crowley
My love is a tall ship and a sweet brigantine,One of the old girls seldom now seen,And she heaves to the wind, boys. See how she fliesWith stars in her hair, boys, and mist in her eyes.
My love is a tall ship. No finer was seen,For many's the ocean my true love has been,And the wind in the rigging it whispers her name,While brace on the bows watches over the main.
So blow your breezes; blow a fair wind to the Askart,And see that lady go o'er the dark rolling sea.
Haul on the sheets, boys. Make up the downhaul,And step on the oars, lads, and mind you don't fall.Stand by to brace, boys. Unfurl the topsail,And we'd soon make her home on the watery main.
So blow your breezes; blow a fair wind to the Askart,And see that lady go o'er the dark rolling sea.
My love is a tall ship and a sweet brigantine,One of the old girls seldom now seen,And she heaves to the wind, boys. see how she fliesWith stars in her hair, boys, and mist in her eyes.
Lets hope she can rise from the waters and sail once more

Sad day for the Asgard II

The sail training vessel Asgard II has sunk 20 miles off the coast of France in the Bay of Biscay.
The ship was lost at 8.25am local time (7.25am Irish time) on 11th September 08, 20 nautical miles from the French coast, southwest of Belle-Île-en-Mer.
Asgard II had earlier been abandoned after taking on water.

The alarm was raised shortly before 2.30am this morning.
The five crew and 20 trainees, most of them Irish, took to the ship's life-rafts.
The ship's captain, Colm Newport, said that the vessel was abandoned in an orderly fashion and with no injuries.
He said that all 25 people were off the ship in four or five minutes, and that they stayed alongside the stricken vessel while communicating with search and rescue.
Within 20 minutes from the initial alarm, they had moved the life-rafts away from the Asgard II, which had water up to its deck at that stage.
The crew and trainees were rescued by a French coastguard vessel.
They were taken to a hotel on the nearby island of Belle-Île-en-Mer.
Mr Newport said that he has no idea what caused the ship to sink, adding that it would be foolish to speculate.
He said that there was a 'sudden ingress of water', which caused the vessel to lose stability.
All those on board were now in contact with 'their people at home', and were in warm clothes, being looked after well by the people on Belle-Île. However, they had been through a traumatic event.
The Irish Ambassador to France, Anne Anderson, is travelling from Paris to Belle-Île to meet the crew and trainees.
The operation of the Asgard II, which is a civilian-run traditionally rigged sailing ship, is run by a voluntary committee chaired by the Minister for Defence.
Its a sad sad day.

Christmas Shopping Begins
I have no trouble in saying that yes i have started by christmas shopping. I do find that if I get a few done every month starting now it doesnt seem so expensive when it comes to christmas. All in all I am a bit annoying seeing as I think I am the most organised person I know and I already see you all rolling your eyes to the heavens saying "God theres loads of time before christmas" but when I am all done and dusted with the shopping I will be able to sit back and laugh while the rest of you try to get in and out of shops on the maddest of Saturdays to get all yours.
I do this every year and find that I can then relax on the run up the Christmas with no need to go to town and barade my way through the crowds only to realise that I dont even know what to get the person or that oh yes they are already sold out.......
Go on and get organised... start now then there seems to be at least some of the christmas paycheck left to get sozzled come the holiday season.

The new addition
I just thought i would pop a pic up of the new addition to the family even though she is now nearly 9 months old. Here she is on her christening day and she hasn't changed much since. Again I cannot claim her as she is just like her daddy and her sister. There you go now thats the end of it no more for me as I think two is plenty.

Good Weekend?
Well back to work after a good weekend. Didn't do much but that was why it was good. My little smidge came back from 4 days holidays in costa del Kilkee with her cousins and granny and grandad and was heartbroken to see them go home. She didn't want to come home at all but with a little persuasion and fun had she came round eventually. My poor heart was breaking when when she was sobbing "I miss them so much" when they had gone but she brighened up when I told her that she was starting her montessori school next Monday.
It was great listening to her update us on what she did on holidays--- collecting shells, building sandcastles, going to the park and amusements, swimming etc etc. God what I would give to be a kid again.
Lets not even get into the 4-1 defeat of Blackburn on Saturday.... I am just disgusted by that result.
Hope you all had a good one
